God’s Timetable Vs Ours

Waiting….. how hard is that?

We pray we wait, we pray we wait. Still no answer.

Unknown.jpeg
We want things to happen and for things to be shown to us clearly as we wait for direction.

But have you ever noticed that as you wait, you do see things clearly. In hindsight many things I prayed for did not happen, and that for my greater good. Maybe something was given to someone over my desire to have it because it wasn’t right for me and very right for another.

Don’t get me wrong, God has answered many prayers and I have seen many great things happen under His hand. I came to resolve that my timetable is not God’s. So for you weary waiter’s (and I don’t mean in a restaurant!) I say there is a season where you see a lot happening, you may be in it right now or as I call it a desert season just waiting for God as He is shaping you for whatever is coming your way next. Hold firmly onto trusting God for wherever you are now.  His plans are making a way for better seasons and as you wait, your faith is always being tested. Paul tells us this in the book of Hebrews devoting a full chapter 11 to the faith of the ancient people in the Old Testament. They may or may not have seen their dreams come true but God is always faithful to those who love and worship Him.

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

For those who have given up on your dreams, I say this to you, dreams are created in your life that others cannot see. When you have a dream, it’s because the dream you have is placed in you, to strive towards, used for the greater good of God and man. Dreams change and sometimes they die but if it is in you pray and see God’s hand and how He answers you.
Place your trust in God as He moves you closer to the things He desires for your life, surrender those tightly held plans and release them to Him, He knows the best direction.

It’s hard to see God working, isn’t it?
Especially when you think you should be going one way and the opposite is true. But God knows you better than you know yourself. That’s where trust, hope and faith come in.

Exodus 15:11
Who among the gods
    is like you, Lord?
Who is like you—
    majestic in holiness,
awesome in glory,
    working wonders?

In writing this to you I see my struggles with waiting, but I know as much as I struggle you do as well so as we are in the body of Christ we wait, we pray and we trust.
Shalom

How God Helps You Endure Struggles

Everyone is going through and has been through some tough struggling, whether it be a loss of a loved one a traumatic experience or financial setbacks believe it or not, you are learning endurance and growth.

Maybe you are thinking how can I be growing through this horrendous time, how is God showing up for me during this and why is He leaving me in this?

Honestly we can never know what is in the mind of God and what is behind the things that happen in our lives and how we can possibly endure such pain or trials.

I want to tell you, God is with you during this in every way possible because loving God puts you in a place like no other; He takes what is bad and makes it good showing His glory through it.

I know, how you wonder?

Well let me tell you, hardship, burden, struggling -will pass, but joy is the ultimate outcome in the end.

You may have been praying for something to happen for months, years and where was God? He wasn’t showing up but for good reason, sometimes what we pray for just isn’t good for us. So we pray more and wait, nothing happens…. Is there a commonality here? Stop praying for that one thing , He has heard you and it has been recorded in heaven Psalm 56:8 Record my misery; list my tears on your scroll, are they not in your record? and ask God to heal the circumstance, to change your heart and make you more like Him in everyway you will see His glory and glorify Him when the trial passes.

Romans 15:30

I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me.

God gives us patient endurance and maybe you will never see the very thing you have waited for, but abundance in every other way, do you see the abundance not the thing you seek so hard to acquire?

May you see this as a blessing gift and that God will be glorified in the very things you receive and don’t receive. Struggle equals growth.

Through every circumstance seek God and pray continuously.

Shalom, Nancy

Who Is The Great Influencer In Your Life?

There are many people in this world that influence your; life, first it’s your parents or caregivers, maybe it’s a sibling or close relative.  It could be someone you look up to like a popular Movie Star or public speaker, maybe a motivator. All these people influence our lives on a daily basis. We want to be like them or look like them, people we probably want to look like or be. That could most likely how our lives get shaped. As you get older you’ve learned and grown and that person is no longer influencing your life so much any more. Maybe that person changed or did something you didn’t agree with, then they become less in your mind and the search continues!

I remember for years listening to a popular speaker his motivational style was quite amazing to me. He was the type of guy who would say ”no limits” – the walk through fire type. I have to admit I used to hang onto every word because I thought he was opening my mind to endless possibilities.

I was putting my trust in his philosophy and motivation. I even had my brother listening to his audio tracks.

As I grew older I realized that not everything he said worked for me, this person didn’t know me or my thoughts and furthermore I felt as though his motivation was selling more of his books and programs than pointing me to really knowing who it was that was truly the motivator.

I’m not saying that the person that has opened your mind to possibilities is wrong but were they really guiding you to the one who created you?

Goals and dreams are great to have, but who is the one that directs your path?

Proverbs 3:6

in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.

Now I know there are people that are really doing great things in the world right now and we should always strive to do better in our lives but instead of looking up to them, why not look to who truly saved your soul?

Who is the ultimate hero of your life?

Jesus!

He is our motivator,

He is always with us,

He moves mountains no mere man can,

He loves us

He will never fail us in times of need.

That’s Christ who went to the cross for you and saved your life!

So as you think about who has influenced you through your life and were they lasting?

Were they there for you in every single aspect all the time?

                                                              Think…….

It is our Lord and Savior

Christ will never leave you or forsake you, look to Him to be the great influencer in your life!

Romans 12:2

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

God Has Surely Listened

God Has Surely Listened

Psalm 66:16-20

Come and hear, all you who fear God;
let me tell you what he has done for me.
 I cried out to him with my mouth;
his praise was on my tongue.
If I had cherished sin in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened
and has heard my prayer. Praise be to God,
who has not rejected my prayer
or withheld his love from me!

There are a lot of people out there that say there is no God. But when something tragic happens they say

“Why has God done this to me?”

Or they are on their deathbed and all their life proclaimed there is no God, suddenly they are crying out for God.

If we pay close attention to this Psalm that was written anonymously they were victorious in a battle. On the battlefield trusting God there knowing that He was in control and no matter what the outcome they feared and praised Him.

They knew if there was sin in their life that was not dealt with that the Lord would not hear their prayers. But as this psalmist has written God hears the prayers of those who go after Him.

The Trials We Face

The Trials we Face

 Are you facing difficulty?

Does everything say “give up” and go on?

Do you feel people are in the way of your progress?

You are facing the same trials many have faced throughout time. Some have been defeated in their strive to move forward, yet because you have faith in Christ you have an assurance that a defeat doesn’t mean an end it means you have been taught.

Many times King David faced enemies in every direction, it could have been defeat but David fled to God for refuge.

Psalm 57:1

Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me,
for in you I take refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
until the disaster has passed.

He saw men coming at him like “ravenous beasts”

Psalm 57:4

I am in the midst of lions;
I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts—
men whose teeth are spears and arrows,
 whose tongues are sharp swords.

But David knew His God, he knew what His God can do and David knew how to praise God in a battle, not to give up or give in. He knew to continue moving forward not getting stuck in old details of worry and negativity but instead to

Glorify and Praise God.

Psalm 57:7

My heart, O God, is steadfast,
my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and make music.

So David stayed steadfast. What does God call you to do in a trial so overwhelming you want to run for the hills? Does He say be defeated?

Or does He say, “I am with you, you are not alone.”

Romans 8:31b

More Than Conquerors

If God is for us, who can be against us?

David was praising God in his trials knowing the God with him and that no matter what David had to face he knew his God can not be defeated, so in times of trouble, even if we lose, we will always win because God is with us through it all.

SHALOM

Do You Doubt What God Can Do?

Do you doubt what God can do?

 John 20:19-20

Jesus Appears to His Disciples

19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

After Jesus rises from the dead He visits the disciples in the room they had been gathering. The amazing joy the disciples must have felt!

John 20:24

Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.

But only 10 of the disciples were there, Judas was gone after betraying and hanging himself from a tree and then there was Thomas, not in the room but when he arrived later after Jesus had left the disciples, they told Thomas all about the Lord’s return. But Thomas didn’t believe it, he needed more proof, he said unless I see Jesus nails scars and wound on His side will I believe.

John 20:25

25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

There are probably many theologians that have their angle on this, but it’s simple. When you have put your trust and love into someone and they leave your doubt is raised if they will come back. But Jesus came back just to show Thomas that it’s true, Jesus loved Thomas so much He came and met his inner desire to physically see just what He knew Thomas needed.

Like Thomas we come to doubt what God can do or if He hears our prayer or call to him. But just like Thomas we need proof, we need to see that prayer is answered and often times it is, but sometimes not what we expect because God knows us intimately and just as He knows how we are wired we need to continue to place trust and hope in Him that He knows our hearts, needs and desires.

Truly it was a happy day for Thomas, but for us who believe without seeing is a privilege and blessing.

God can and will meet your needs but you must trust that He will and not be “A Doubting Thomas”.

Shalom on your day.

Turbulent Times, Trust Jesus

Romans 15:13  May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Where is the world headed these days? It seems as though things are getting more intense and out of control. But there is a hope for you and I, it’s the constant hope that Jesus is with us during these troubled, turbulent times.

When you look back on your life do you see that things are not as they were? Things are moving fast, people are making decisions without going to Jesus in Prayer. But I say to you, don’t let the world overtake you and seek Jesus, He will give you understand in the midst of a battle or stressed time.

When you don’t know the answer and don’t know where to turn, look to Jesus, He makes everything clear and new! There is no one on earth that knows you like Jesus does and He wants you to turn to Him in prayer. The battle is not yours, it’s His, Trust God.

America, what happened?

Isaiah 16:10

 Joy and gladness are taken away from the orchards;
no one sings or shouts in the vineyards;
no one treads out wine at the presses,
for I have put an end to the shouting.

For many years America grew and prospered, for many of us, we lived a good quiet life and God was the head of our lives. We went to church (some out of guilt, others for the love of Christ) and tried to obey God’s commandments and if we strayed, we would always have a conscience about our actions. This great country America, has now closed it’s doors on God, taking His commandments out of the schools, buildings and even some churches as people go their own way ignoring the Creator. God is patient and kind, He shows mercy, but for how long?

If everything you had today, all your wealth, house, family was gone, what would sustain your spirit? So it is when God takes everything from this earth, don’t act surprised when you read this, but God will destroy the earth, we do not know when but many are saying we are getting closer as signs and wonders fill the skies and the earth.

So then, if today, you were to meet God, what would you say?                                   Were you ashamed of Him?                                                                                           Did you stop someone from sharing the gospel with you?                                             How are you really preparing for the end of your life?

All these are important questions, as well as what did you do in God’s name for others? How did you serve Christ and partake in the lives of others?

My hope for you, brother and sister that you heed to the words of God through scripture and go to Jesus in prayer and thanksgiving as you repent of the sins you have done through your life. Listen, we all have fallen short of the grace of God, but it is God’s grace that saves you.

Shalom!

Reaching The Mountaintop

You see so many people trying to climb to the highest Mountaintop, it takes endurance and strength and a will to keep going. How often do we face this same thing in our lives? We are trying to get to the mountaintop, something comes from the outside and detours us into an avalanche, so we slow down, maybe stop, we sometimes want to retreat but something inside of us tells us to continue on. We continue slowly up that steep rocky crag and suddenly we can see the top, but it’s far, should we stop right where we are and wait to see if there are options around the big overhang that is in front of us or do we decide we came far enough now that we seen the top I am satisfied? We have all been here. Not wanting to go beyond what God can give us strength to do. That’s when you think, do I have enough trust and faith to get all the way there? Or is God telling me to be satisfied with what I have achieved so far?

Turning back is the easy way, you think what you left was great but when you were there it was tough too. Having to face the past isn’t easy and letting it go is harder even still. But I say to you, what could happen if you get to the Mountaintop? I believe Jesus is there waiting for you, you can’t see Him behind that large rock overhang because it’s separating you from unbelief. Stay the course, tough it out and get to the Mountaintop and achieve what God has planned for you.

Shalom
