You Are Set Apart

I confess I am reading Leviticus in the Old Testament and finding it difficult wondering; how did they keep all the instructions and laws?

I also wondered were they afraid all the time of messing up and not being able to keep them? They did.
That is why the Book of Leviticus deals with their “right Living”, sacrificing for their sins, abiding by the laws and carrying them out, to be a holy nation set apart. Testing was their everyday challenge. Were they going to listen to God or do what they wanted?

Let’s fast forward to Jesus….
In his patience and love tells the Jewish people “I have not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it.” (Matthew 5:17) Jesus said He was the Messiah, many received Him with their whole heart- all were accepted Jews and Gentiles. Many devout Jewish leaders didn’t believe Him and their hard hearts turned away, the message fell on deaf ears. They were praying for a Messiah to save them from Roman rule, but in truth Jesus came to lead them to Himself for eternal life. Through Jesus the laws that kept them shackled could now be broken, but they could not hear or believe it, and they scrambled in stress to keep their laws in tact.

Isaiah 11:1-3. The Branch From Jesse           (Matthew 1:6 for lineage)

A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of might,
the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—

and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.
He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes,
    or decide by what he hears with his ears;

I understand Leviticus it to be God’s instructions of holiness, sacrifices, worship & health, those instructions were instrumental to leading and guiding the Israelites as a holy people, setting them apart to follow God and abide by all his laws.

Why Are you set apart?

You were chosen by God to be a separate people when you came to Christ, there was a new life coming towards you, before Christ you were part of the world and now because of your faith in knowing that Jesus is Lord has saved you and takes you not physically out of the world but spiritually gives you a new life one that isn’t shackled to the earth, but is free to love and know that you have been set free by the power of His mighty blood.

Brethren don’t give up hope, it is for this time you have come into the world , maybe you don’t understand why but God has this great plan to show you how His mighty power works, JUST WATCH!

The Falsehood Of Reincarnation

When I was growing up I believed that you could come back into this earth and become someone or something else. Just imagine coming back as something exciting, that’s an interesting thought. But as I grew and matured I began to take this seriously, so seriously that it was consuming to my soul on a loop of coming back, never resting.

The falsehood of reincarnation is that when you follow this thought your life is never going to be satisfied, it will always long for more chances to make things the way you think they should be. That can destroy any kind of hope for rest or joy. The joy that only can be experienced with Jesus Christ.

The revelation of Jesus Christ has always been the way to eternal life, from the moment you were born the decision to follow Him was always up to you. Jesus came to give you abundant life on earth and life eternal with Him. But following such non-sense as coming back is only something that the devil wants you to follow so that you will turn from the true way into heaven.

Through Christ blood shed on the cross, he defeated death and the strongholds of this world were broken, as he rose from death and is the eternal one, that is the truth. So when you see the sign on someone’s lawn that says: John 3:16, that is the reminder what God did for us through His Son.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave His One and Only Son so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Enough said,

The Thieves On The Cross-

Three hung on a cross on an early spring morning in the month of April, AD 33

Jesus in the center of it all, severely punished for no crime, in excruciating pain and suffering was mounted between two others that committed crimes, maybe they were wondering why he was there, though their suffering could not compare to what they put Jesus through, as the day lingered slowly, hung on the crosses we can only imagine the thoughts and words that were being said. But as scripture says we read, on the cross the thieves were insulting Jesus.

Matthew 27:44 says:

In the same way, the insurgents who were crucified with him were also insulting him.

Luke 23:39

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”

But as these men turned away from God and committed their crimes, sealed their punishment, penalty was death for what they chose to freely and willingly do.

Now Jesus, freely and willingly came into the world not to save our worldly lives but our eternal lives, through His great love for us, he went to the cross for that very reason.

Luke 23:40-41

But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence?  We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”

Of course what they were experiencing, a criminals death was subject to change that day, as one confronted Jesus as Lord to save them, the other wanted Jesus to remember him, both acknowledging Him as God.

Luke 23:42

Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

Through His pain, Jesus loves the thieves he is not dying for himself but for the sins they did, He never held His love back even through his own suffering, Jesus shows selfless compassion.

Luke 23: 43

Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Even through Jesus own pain and suffering, facing death, forgave the ones that didn’t know what they were doing or saying to him.

How often have we turned away from Jesus because he wasn’t saving us from a situation we stepped into?

Maybe there was something we could have avoided or something that came up and we prayed for an answer only to feel unheard.

Is there un-forgiveness that is still lingering that needs to be nailed to the cross?

Our situations are not just for learning a lesson, but also to grow us and teach us to walk in humbleness with Christ, to yearn to want to be like him and to let him shape us.

Nothing is hidden from God, nor will any of your plans, dreams, hopes or failures.

But in surrendering our lives to Jesus, we will see that His plan is better than ours, His way is better, a self focused life is a dead end, but a life surrendered to Jesus is an amazing journey.

As we see Jesus was obedient to the cross, victory over death, and saving you because of His love for you, you never walk alone, He sends his gift of the Holy Spirit.

Even the sinful thieves acknowledged Jesus and didn’t die without him.

Glory to the High King, Jesus

You Can’t Go Back There

Have you ever gone through some difficult times, when you know that the place you loved and cared about had to come to an end? Sadly, this happens to all of us, we leave careers for retirement or downsize, we leave a church because you moved or just started attending somewhere else. But the thing that amazes me is that even when we try to go back, it’s fine for a short time but then you realize how much you have grown since you were gone and you just can’t go back there.

That’s the wonderful grace of our Lord, He’s always changing us, helping us to grow and to see things from another perspective, how comforting to be able to know He has  plans ahead for us and how He changes us inside out to get us ready for them.I have met so many wonderful people along the way, but not everything is meant to stay the same for your whole lifetime. Growing is important, just as breathing is, if we don’t make the move or draw ourselves closer to Jesus, we will miss out on all the blessings He is going to give, we merely have to trust Him for whatever will be next for us. So hold fast, you may not understand why you were separated from something or someone, but God is working on that right now because His love for you surpasses all the things you worry about, don’t you know how high wide and deep His love is for you?He won’t leave you without a greater plan!

This is my favorite scripture because I live knowing that there is so more to see and do and that God has plans for me and you!

1 Corinthians 2:9

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived, what God has planned for those who love Him.

What Jesus Says About The Last Days

Based on Matthew 24

Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives and said-

vs 4`Don’t be deceived, many will come and say “I am the Christ”

People that follow human leaders

vs 6 ` wars and rumors of wars, don’t be alarmed, the end is still to come

World threats, terrorism

vs 7 `Nation against Nation, Kingdom against Kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places

Rise in tension across the world, Increase in earthquake activity,

vs 8` All these are the beginning of birth pains

vs 9` Great persecution will come because of me

Severe persecution of Christians is on the rise in countries all over the world

vs 10` Many will turn away from the faith and betray eachother

Selfish generation living without God or knowing about God

vs 11` False Prophets will appear and deceive many

TV evangelists, church leaders and wicked leaders are deceiving many

vs 12 ` Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of many will grow cold

We see this in our current time through betrayal

vs 13` but he who stands firm to the end will be saved

All that calls on the name of the Lord will be saved

…to be continued

Quiet Your Spirit

Christmas is a time of reflection and forgiveness. Think about the many people in this year that you had experienced joy, happiness, disappointment and pain with and as the days get closer and things are finishing up with last-minute details of gatherings, food and gifts, maybe it is truly a time of reflecting on what happened this past year that really changed you.

Now, I know a lot of people that had so many different crises and had to deal with health issues, emergencies, people and impatience.  I had my share and so did a lot of the people in my life, just when you thought you were through with everything something came in from behind you weren’t expecting. But God carried you through it, didn’t He?

I love the fact that in the midst of all that has happened, I can still take the first part of the day and honor God as I sit and really try to Quiet my Spirit before him. With chaos blooming in a mad frenzy, I still can sit and quiet the out of control circumstances of my life with the time I give just to God in praise of it all, that’s when the Holy Spirit intervenes and takes hold of you and gives you that peace that in beyond all understanding, that peace that surpasses life’s anguish.

So my friend, take time, spend time with God and quiet your spirit, it’s like excercise for your soul.godssimplekindness.jpg

Show Kindness

Job 6:14  “Anyone who withholds kindness from a friend forsakes the fear of the Almighty.

In the book of Job, he shows his committment and love for God through his trials that God had allowed. But have you ever found yourself here in the scripture where Job is telling us if you aren’t being kind to a friend then you are forsaking the fear of God. Job’s friends were telling him that it was something he did wrong that God was punishing him for it, but that wasn’t the case at all. Job was in the midst of his trials as God was testing him and his friends as well. Were they turning their backs on Job?

Our friendships are very important to God, how we treat our friends is a lesson on how we are treated. If you are turning your back on someone who is genuinely kind to you, talking against them, ignoring them, not listening or compassionate then what do you think you will receive? God has made us in the image of Him and when you turn your back on others and treating them poorly you, in turn are doing this to God. That is where forgiveness is a big part of your behavior because kindness isn’t being reflected. You can’t go through life holding the hand of a friend who isn’t learning thier lessons, but you surely can be there as an anchor for them in times of troubles. They will never forget you for that, it’s that important.

So what if you are not able to forgive that person? They may have done something so bad that your heart has soured towards them, put them at the throne of God and realize who you are not forgiving because God wants us to be kind to all, forgiving and letting it go.That’s how you grow in God.

The Nails, the Cross, the Blood, the Water

Pilate said to Jesus: “Don’t you realize I have the power to free you or crucify you?” -John 19:10

Doesn’t God have the power over us? Not any human can match Gods awesome power, or plan for His only Son

So the soldiers took charge of Jesus,. Carrying His own Cross he went out to the place of the skull (Golgotha) John 19:16-17

Betrayed by His own people, carrying His Cross to bear our sins, taking the blame and shame He walked in pain for us!

But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break His legs, Instead one of the soldiers pierced Jesus side with a spear bringing a sudden flow of blood and water .  John 19:33-34

The Blood that covers the multitude of sins, the water, life that was given freely to us in Him to live free from eternal death.

Can it be explained any clearer than this? He came for you and me. completing Gods plan for a Savior and in His humble heart He took the nails, He bore the Cross. The blood was spilled for redemption of sin and the water brings us to life, eternally with Him!

The Suffering of Christ

For which man can see the everlasting truth that is of God.

Many will come to the cross of Christ and wonder how He took His pain. But we must remember as christians that christ came into this world for us to be the savior. He did not  come in to be glorified but to serve and to heal the sickness of people who had lost all hope. The fall of many people will happen as time progresses we shall see the son of Man rise again and His glory will be as far wide as the sands of time. Let no man be so bold as to say that Jesus was only a man. They are not speaking from Gods point of View.

Rest in the Savior’s words that today, mark this day as the beginning of the time of transition. the world will not be the same after this time, it will begin to see that Christ is walking among us in greatness and power and that no one can stand in His way or ours. blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosana in the Highest.

He suffered for you and me. remember this as you celebrate the resurrection Sunday!
