|Lately, I have been noticing that many are saying how much they need God and prayer, as people we seek the Lord when we find ourselves in desperate need of an answer. Many prayers of God’s people get answered, many don’t and we don’t know why, it’s a mystery only through God’s leading will you understand this.
Today I want to share this Parable that Jesus spoke about to His disciples called the Four Soils. Starting at verse 4-8 – these verses may be difficult to understand, that’s why the disciples asked plainly “What do you mean?”.
4 While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, he told this parable: 5 “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. 6 Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.”
When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”
9 His disciples asked him what this parable meant.
Are you wondering as well?
10 He said, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that,
“‘though seeing, they may not see;
though hearing, they may not understand.’
11 “This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. 13 Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing, they fall away. 14 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. 15 But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
Are You Firmly Rooted
I’m seeing this in many people, they believe and pray to God for needs or when things are really bad, then when everything starts to look better, they turn away from God and turn back to their life again. These easier days will not last, things happen, the bottom falls out or some other problem comes up, where is the root?
Stand firm in God’s word and you will see your life change, so do circumstances, keep trusting God, stay firm, let your roots grow deep and pray. Become fruit for God to use in other people’s lives when they need that hope and firm foundation.
People and things always disappoint but God never disappoints, put your faith and your life into His hands as He guides you along,, in peace and in every situation.

If you are like me, you constantly are measuring your growth in Christ. Many times I question, am I maturing and growing? Am I behaving in a way that glorifies God or am I self-seeking?
Today, I’m reflecting on David who was a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22)
Reading David’s Psalms we come to realize, he also was growing in his thoughts and behavior. David was clear on one thing, He knew with God all things are possible and he stepped out in prayer and faith. God grew his abilities to fight, guided him every day as a leader in King Saul’s army and kept him strong for whatever was coming his way.
David faced obstacles, King Saul, knowing David was next in line for kingship pursued him. We can only imagine his fear at times but we also know that God was with him and had anointed him to move through battles that were just about impossible for man to overcome and true miracles from the Lord’s Angel Armies. God had given David strength to scale every wall, victory in battle and as he leads, favor with men. David grew from a young sheep shearer to a great King, God was showing him the way because David got out of his own way. The plans were set for David, just as God has His plans set for us.
But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever,
the purposes of his heart through all generations.
What can we learn from this and how can we get unstuck?
There is no rock too big for God to move, let’s not let the one that is in front of us get in our way, it means only a detour for now, but later a victory.
Psalm 25 Of David.
In you, Lord my God,
I put my trust.
Where You Are
Looking back, from when you first felt God in your life and how you were led, do you see the work He has done in you? Do you see how He has led you from person to person, from teaching to teaching and has established your growth in ways only you can understand. As you study the Bible it becomes more real to you, your life unfolds in understanding the answers to your questions. As your prayer life changes your growth in Christ deepens and your relationship to Jesus goes from head knowledge to heart knowledge seeking the love that only He can give you.
Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.
Where You Are Going
God knows what each day will bring, not us.
If you have you asked for direction with no answer in sight, it may take more growth, more tearing away the “old selfish ways” as Jesus makes new ways.
Jesus does tell us to “Ask, Seek, Knock” and the door will be opened. The hardest part is waiting as we grow and understand that God’s way is better than our way. Pray and wait, the Holy Spirit will do the leading and you will know when things are right. Even if you make a mistake, He will gently show you the way back. He’s the potter, we are the clay. Trusting God is the most important thing you can do to know where you are going. Remember….. who’s plan, God’s!
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.

Is God Real?
Many years ago while I was searching for truth I asked the question, “Is God Real?”I grew up in a church that really didn’t teach much except to be afraid of God, lots of rules and ways to behave, I still struggled to know if God was real and how is He relevant in my life?
After searching, studying and speaking with other Christians I know He’s real, operating in every way through your life. Do you wonder does God even know who I am?
This is what the Bible tells us:
- He knew you in the womb: Psalm 139:13
- He set you apart: Psalm 4:3
- He counts the hairs on your head: Matthew 10:30
- He knows what you need before you ask: Matthew 6:8
- He hears your prayers: 1 John 5:14
- He blesses you: Psalm 67:6
- He protects you: Proverbs 2:8
- Jesus prays for you: John 17:6
- The Holy Spirit guides you: John 16:12-13
- He has a plan for you: Jeremiah 29:11
- His love for you endures forever: Psalm 100:5
- His kingdom never ends: Luke 1:33
- He makes a place for you there: John 14:3
The Bible points us to Scripture many times of God knowing you, intimately, even before you were born. You see the Holy Spirit that is given to us the moment we believe and surrender our lives to Christ will show us the way and the truth that can set you free. Maybe you feel the weight of life upon you and you just want to break free of those chains, you can, if you believe in the One and Only True God, Jesus Christ.
The Bible is not a fable, it’s truth speaks to us and works as a guidebook, it’s rich history and lessons stand every generation. Reading through God’s word you can see the Holy Spirit guiding men and women who have listened and took action to what God had for them. If you feel that somehow this doesn’t make sense to you, then pray and ask. You will get your answer, seeking God for answers will help you get to know the great God that is over us and you will know God is real when you do.
God had a greater plan when He sent His Son to this world, living 33 years and the last three in ministry and instruction, what Jesus accomplished has changed the world. He fulfilled what the prophets spoke about, a Savior that would come and be a sacrifice for us, for forgiveness of sins.
just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Apostle Paul says:
Hebrews 9:26 Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.
If you still don’t understand who God is and if He is real, the first place to start to know Jesus in the Gospel Matthew, that will show you the genealogy of Jesus and miracle virgin birth God did through Mary. God is real and is around us everywhere, leading you to Himself, so that you will have an eternal home, but you must trust God for this and have faith!
Have you ever read something that was very enticing and then later realized it was not true?
~Have you ever watched a speaker and thought, yea that’s the way I feel and later realize that the purpose of the speaker was to lure you into their book buying, agenda and following?
~Have you ever read a fact that was true then someone put their own “take on it” and make it seem true?
This is all called misleading. When someone or something takes your full attention away from God or the Bible and then that becomes your truth, which is not God’s, and you are mislead and taken away from truly knowing God.
Yes, some will even go to the Bible, point you to scriptures making them palatable, then twist it to their own teaching to entice you to want even more.
1 Peter 2:1
But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves.
Many people are being mislead by a speaker, teacher, self called-prophet or pastor that has a program and somehow throws Jesus into their teaching and doesn’t always point to Jesus being the way, this is also misleading.
It is always wonderful to have devotions, hear about someone who has healed through the healing power of Christ but the truth is the Bible is the source and whoever trusts in something that isn’t fallible as the Bible is, but is misguided to their own truths then that is a sin in itself.
Put everything you ingest in your mind through a strain test.
Does this person profit from and promote their agenda?
Do they point you to the Bible over their own work?
Do they point to Jesus in every aspect of teaching?
Do they call themselves prophets moving people towards a certain “word” for them or healing and enticing you to want more (similar to luring of a psychic’s deception). You will know if the Holy Spirit is speaking to your heart by the way it has been presented to you from a humble perspective.
1 John 4:1
Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Do some say “The End is coming soon” and give you a time or date?
The Day and Hour Unknown
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth.
Do they say “victory” over circumstances?
Jesus said we will have trials but to be an overcomer;
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Take the time to think through things you are taking in, and allowing that to be your truth, follow Jesus, not people, things or objects.
“Do not make any idols.
1 John 5:21
Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again”
What does it mean to be Born Again?
When Jesus comes into your behavior begins to change. You no longer seek out things of the world. Jesus transforms you with a desire to seek Him , want an intimate relationship with Him and as you do, He begins to reshape you by taking away a hateful mind and opening your heart up to love, just as though you were a reborn child, not corrupted by the world yet.
Jesus transforms your worldly thinking into godly thinking,
You don’t depend on the world for your happiness,
Jesus fulfills all your needs.
You no longer seek the things that used to make you happy,
you seek the desires that only Jesus fulfills.
He gives you a heart for Him, instead of pushing Him away you begin to
need Jesus more and depend on Him.
He gives you a love for others, where you despised and hated someone or some thing
you begin to look at it like He did, with compassion and understanding.
Money no longer drives you like it used to, you need it to live but it’s not everything to you because ……Jesus is.
Jesus takes away pride and replaces it with humbleness.
Your relationships change because you are changing, instead of pointing the finger, you see situations in a different light, you no longer have a desire to be doing what you used to do and the situations that used to upset you Jesus changes you to begin to forgive and understand.
Only Jesus can do this transforming work.
Sin is a wall between you and God, your heart can’t get transformed unless you totally let go, ask God for forgiveness. Humbling yourself is the first step in letting Jesus take the wheel of your life.
- Lay it down at the feet of Jesus. He will give you rest.
- Seek His love
- See your life transformed
- Be His light to others
- Leave it all at the foot of the cross
“How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

An ordinary day in an extraordinary way, Jesus and his disciples walk through a town in Samaria called Sychar, walking along the road He tells them to go ahead into town and get food for them. Jesus sat down at Jacob’s well for a drink
But it was more than a drink; there was a divine appointment at the well.
There He sat and a Samaritan woman came along to fetch water, Jesus asked her for a drink, she replied “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman, how can you ask me for a drink? John4: 9 (because Jews didn’t associate with Samaritans)
Jesus answered “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water.” John 4:10
How often is it that Jesus invites us to drink of His living water, to sit in His presence and know Him?
Do you seek this?
The woman was seeking for the Messiah to come and save them, but suddenly there He was asking her for a drink, offering her eternal life.
Would you recognize Jesus if He spoke to your heart?
She went for water, Jesus had something better for her, Jesus offers eternal life. Everything that is on earth is put here for you, for your pleasure as God gives it to us but life here is not lasting. Jesus offers us eternal life.
Jesus meets us in times of our lives that are unexpected, but just like the woman at the well in need of the living water, are you running after things that will satisfy you only temporarily or are you seeking Jesus?
Only Jesus can satisfy our thirst through the living water He provides.
Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

Sin can hold it’s grasp on you when you let what drives you to it take over your life. Maybe you are that person that says there is nothing wrong with what you are doing but deep down sin has got it’s hold on you.
Sadly that’s what sin does, it’s blinding to those who know no escape and allow the world and how they feel to dictate what is right. With no escape from the grasp how will you know if it is right or wrong?
The only way to know if you are doing the right thing is to ask God to come into your life and speak to your heart and to bring His light to the circumstances in which you live and to ask your self what does this thing that I know may be wrong doing to myself and those around me. Am I following my way or is it God’s way?
With sin, God always provides an escape.
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
With following your way the hole you dig gets deeper and deeper so you can no longer see the light on the sin, you walk in the darkness. But God provides the light and He shines His light on the sin to help you overcome it. That’s why we go to Him in prayer for clarity and help.
Woe to those who go to great depths
to hide their plans from the Lord,
who do their work in darkness and think,
“Who sees us? Who will know?”
God is willing to lift you up to see what you are doing and help you out of that pit but first you must ask Him to shine light on your life and to forgive you for the sin you are doing and have done.
“Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you.
My prayer for you is simply this: Let the light of Christ shine down on you and may His grace be forthcoming in your life through the forgiveness of sins. Break free from the grasp of a sin led life to the love of Christ, following Him all the days of your life.

The hardest part of waiting for God through your problems is trusting Him for the results. Often times when I see myself in past situations I think that God allowed time to work through whatever was going on.
It’s our nature to want to hurry things along, to put a bandaid on situations and try to resolve them ourselves but when we trust God we wait on God ,we can have the assurance that He will handle whatever it is we go to Him for.
It’s times like the trials that really test your faith. Maybe it’s because God clearly tries to get your attention to go to Him in Prayer. Often we look to ourselves to solve things but it is God we must seek to remedy any thing that is in our way.
Believe God can do it!
During personal trials I have seen Him turn situations around in the midst of some pretty hard stuff. I’ve also realized that when things are getting out of control, that’s when we really call on Him to step in and lean in on him. Never feel that God can’t answer right away, He can and does.
When God is silent
When God is silent our thoughts turn to that of His not being near, but He is right with us, His presence never ceasing, it is He that gives us strength in turbulent times.
When the battle and the trials end, think of how you got through them, how you were changed and grew to understand your strength because of trusting Him.
May your day be a blessing to you and to everyone you meet.
And in Him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by the Spirit

Do you doubt what God can do?
Jesus Appears to His Disciples
19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
After Jesus rises from the dead He visits the disciples in the room they had been gathering. The amazing joy the disciples must have felt!
Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.
But only 10 of the disciples were there, Judas was gone after betraying and hanging himself from a tree and then there was Thomas, not in the room but when he arrived later after Jesus had left the disciples, they told Thomas all about the Lord’s return. But Thomas didn’t believe it, he needed more proof, he said unless I see Jesus nails scars and wound on His side will I believe.
25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”
But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”
There are probably many theologians that have their angle on this, but it’s simple. When you have put your trust and love into someone and they leave your doubt is raised if they will come back. But Jesus came back just to show Thomas that it’s true, Jesus loved Thomas so much He came and met his inner desire to physically see just what He knew Thomas needed.
Like Thomas we come to doubt what God can do or if He hears our prayer or call to him. But just like Thomas we need proof, we need to see that prayer is answered and often times it is, but sometimes not what we expect because God knows us intimately and just as He knows how we are wired we need to continue to place trust and hope in Him that He knows our hearts, needs and desires.
Truly it was a happy day for Thomas, but for us who believe without seeing is a privilege and blessing.
God can and will meet your needs but you must trust that He will and not be “A Doubting Thomas”.
Shalom on your day.

Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
When Jesus rose from the grave, that morning Mary’s heart was broken as she went to the tomb and saw that the stone was rolled away. He’s gone!
I don’t know where they have put Him.
We only can imagine, how upset she was, the man that she loved deep in her soul, the one she gave her life over to is now gone.
He arose and stood right near her and asked her who she was looking for (she thought he was the gardener) she was crying and Jesus revealed himself to her.”Rabboni!” she shouted but Jesus said “do not cling to me, I have not yet ascended to my Father.”
Mary ran to tell the other disciples as they waited together not knowing what to do except wait and think of the events of the past days, what happened to their Lord, the one they have loved, followed and were clinging onto His words. Thinking about how the disciples may have reacted some of these things could have been passing through their minds –
Will the Jewish leaders arrest us?
What did I do?
Can Jesus forgive me?
What do we do now?
But as Mary’s words came into their minds two of the disciples, Peter and John hurried to the tomb, John running ahead of Peter. He was gone!
He lives they thought, and they went back to rejoice with the others.
As the New Testament Scriptures say, Jesus showed up in the place the disciples were meeting, they were joyful in seeing him.
That’s what happens when we are separated from Jesus, our hearts are broken and we may know why, maybe someone you know doesn’t believe in Jesus or doesn’t believe any of the Bible is true, that’s why we point them to the Cross and what Jesus did for us all.
Debt Paid, Forgiveness of Sin, life everlasting that’s what the Savior did for us.
We are forgiven for all the past and can move forward…. free.
