There Is No Fear Of God

This is the direction of the world, but for those who seek God there is hope,

hope in Jesus!

I will post this Psalm to encourage you to not look at what the world is doing but to look to God. David witnessed many ungodly acts during times of distress, so he prayed seeking answers and this is God’s message through David as he writes;

Psalm 36

I have a message from God in my heart

    concerning the sinfulness of the wicked: 

There is no fear of God

    before their eyes. 

In their own eyes they flatter themselves

    too much to detect or hate their sin.

The words of their mouths are wicked and deceitful;

    they fail to act wisely or do good.

Even on their beds they plot evil;

    they commit themselves to a sinful course

    and do not reject what is wrong.

Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens,

    your faithfulness to the skies.

Your righteousness is like the highest mountains,

    your justice like the great deep.

    You, Lord, preserve both people and animals.

How priceless is your unfailing love, O God!

    People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

They feast on the abundance of your house;

    you give them drink from your river of delights.

For with you is the fountain of life;

    in your light we see light. 

Continue your love to those who know you,

    your righteousness to the upright in heart. 

May the foot of the proud not come against me,

    nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.

See how the evildoers lie fallen—

    thrown down, not able to rise!

May you find comfort in what God has spoken,

Don’t lose heart, God knows everything and is in control.

Is God Real?

Is God Real?

Many years ago while I was searching for truth I asked the question, “Is God Real?”I grew up in a church that really didn’t teach much except to be afraid of God, lots of rules and ways to behave, I still struggled to know if God was real and how is He relevant in my life?

After searching, studying and speaking with other Christians I know  He’s real, operating in every way through your life. Do you wonder does God even know who I am?

This is what the Bible tells us:

  • He knew you in the womb: Psalm 139:13
  • He set you apart: Psalm 4:3
  • He counts the hairs on your head: Matthew 10:30
  • He knows what you need before you ask: Matthew 6:8
  • He hears your prayers: 1 John 5:14 
  • He blesses you: Psalm 67:6
  • He protects you: Proverbs 2:8
  • Jesus prays for you: John 17:6
  • The Holy Spirit guides you: John 16:12-13
  • He has a plan for you: Jeremiah 29:11
  • His love for you endures forever: Psalm 100:5
  • His kingdom never ends: Luke 1:33
  • He makes a place for you there: John 14:3

The Bible points us to Scripture many times of God knowing you, intimately, even before you were born. You see the Holy Spirit that is given to us the moment we believe and surrender our lives to Christ will show us the way and the truth that can set you free. Maybe you feel the weight of life upon you and you just want to break free of those chains, you can, if you believe in the One and Only True God, Jesus Christ.

The Bible is not a fable, it’s truth speaks to us and works as a guidebook, it’s rich history and lessons stand every generation. Reading through God’s word you can see the Holy Spirit guiding men and women who have listened and took action to what God had for them. If you feel that somehow this doesn’t make sense to you, then pray and ask. You will get your answer, seeking God for answers will help you get to know the great God that is over us and you will know God is real when you do.

God had a greater plan when He sent His Son to this world, living 33 years and the last three in ministry and instruction, what Jesus accomplished has changed the world. He fulfilled what the prophets spoke about, a Savior that would come and be a sacrifice for us, for forgiveness of sins. 

Jesus says:

Matthew 20:28

just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Apostle Paul says:

Hebrews 9:26 Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.

If you still don’t understand who God is and if He is real,  the first place to start to know Jesus in the Gospel Matthew, that will show you the genealogy of Jesus and miracle virgin birth God did through Mary. God is real and is around us everywhere, leading you to Himself, so that you will have an eternal home, but you must trust God for this and have faith!

Eye Witnesses Of The Living Jesus

If there is doubt in the world whether or not Jesus was real and some made up story, there are many historical facts that are documented history on this. The most trust worthy written word is in the New Testament of the Bible, there we find eyewitness accounts of Jesus appearing first to Mary Magdolin at the tomb then to the disciples, then to many others. Pressing out further, we find documented letters from His Apostles that have been written and shared about Him and shared with followers regarding His crucifixion, death, burial and resurrection from death. In the Gospel of John, we read how the obedient disciples wait in hiding until Jesus appears to them as He promised.

John 20:19 

 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

In the Book of Acts, Paul (was Saul) himself experienced the Living Jesus on the road to Damascus as he was headed to persecute and kill Christians.

Acts 9:3-6

As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”

“Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked.

“I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replied. “Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

Then later after Paul’s conversion we read in his letters of the resurrected and living Christ and as he wrote to the Corinthians and said:

1 Corinthians 15:6-8

For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scripturesand that he appeared to Cephas (Peter) and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.

 There were many witnesses to the appearance of Christ that are documented in the Bible. There are other historical books that document Christ, Christians and the Romans persecution of Christians.

At this time of High Holy Days, it’s a time to be reflective of our lives and what Christ has done for us on the Cross-, He died so that you could have eternal life; He defeated death and was a perfect sacrifice for your sins.

His faithful disciples knew first hand and stood their ground for Him as their one and only God. They were eyewitnesses to Jesus alive, talking and eating with them.

We may not be able to see Jesus, but when we whole-heartedly come to Him, he is in our presence through the Holy Spirit, which has guided you all along your life.

Jesus is as much alive NOW as He was then. We can’t see Him but he tells us in John

John 20:29

Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Spiritual Fitness

If you haven’t been watching the Olympics you are missing out on seeing the amazing physical endurance of these athletes from around the world, they train for years to get an opportunity to compete with the best of the best.

They endure pain and suffering, intense workouts and failures as well as triumphs through out their training. No one really knows the preparation that goes behind the process of standing strong in that struggle.

The same goes for us. We endure many trials and some do strength training in the gym or on the job as well as in our relationships and with people we don’t know. We can prepare for what may happen but we can never know the outcome, just like the many athletes in the games.

But, the most important overall is not just the physical training, but the spiritual training and many people neglect to even try to understand what that is. The spiritual training comes form reading the word of God. The tools that God has given to us for mental equipping are far beyond our understanding but God holds the answers in His word.

So if you are feeling depressed, neglected, overwhelmed, in pain or sorrow, you can bring the word of God into your mind to strengthen you. You can pray and ask for direction and God whom you have trusted will answer you in the ways He knows you need.

Spiritual Fitness isn’t just something you do when you think about it; you must exercise this part of your relationship with God everyday. Pray and ask for direction, read a part of the gospel that can strengthen you for instance where Jesus says He prays for you (John 17:9) or maybe you just want to see a chapter in the Old Testament where God steps in and defeats an army or heals a person. This is not just beneficial to religious people; it’s beneficial to you in every way.

The Bible is a gift from God to you, to lead and guide through this life

                                                                                                          and for your eternal journey.

 

Romans 15:4 

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.

Horoscopes, Fortune Tellers & Cults

If you are one of those people that enjoy alittle unsuspecting encouragement in your day through what you think is a harmless horoscope reading. or maybe you went to a psychic, or a card reader that gave you some answers that encouraged you and maybe trusted on those words as truth.

Let me lead you into some godly truth, it’s false teaching to entice you to want more, to be caught up in some words that do not come from God but from satan.

You see satan knows your weaknesses, he knows you will get caught up in it and he will do anything to take your eyes off God, even if it sounds true. Trusting in something or someone isn’t focused on God is false.

Here are some ways that you will know its false:

You put hope in what you read

Someone will ask for a free will devotion or fee

They seem to be telling you the truth, but it just doesn’t seem right

They put fear in you, you believe them

You leave in hope of what they told you and then it never happens or,

What they say does happen but doesn’t have a good outcome or you sit and wait for it to happen (no one knows your future, only God does)

You are continuing to want more

You may start to separate yourself from people you have always had relationships with either by resentment, misunderstanding or unforgiveness

They tell you to pray to false gods/things/people (crystals, preachers, false teaching, etc.) Deuteronomy 18:10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,

Their motives are selfish

They can’t really help you and you feel lost.

Praying to Saints

Worshipping the church, it’s activities/leaders/rituals

They just lead you away from God

Exodus 20:3

“You shall have no other gods before me. (one of God’s 10 Commandments to us)

 

Here are some ways that you will know truth through God:

Spend time in prayer, listen for His voice

He does not separate you from the people that love or care about you

He doesn’t ask you to give away your money to get a reading or a teaching

He gently calls you and wants to speak into your life

He guides you into truth, through His word (the Bible)

He prepares you for eternity with Him

You do not have to pray to saints, teachers or anything but right to Jesus as our great intercessor

You come freely to Him at any time.

Jesus sends you the Holy Spirit for truth

Make no mistake, worshiping yourself, idols; things that aren’t God are a sin. Trusting in anything that isn’t God is a sin.

1 Samuel 15:23

 For rebellion is like the sin of divination,
and arrogance like the evil of idolatry.
Because you have rejected the word of the Lord,
he has rejected you as king.”

So my word to you today is this:

What are you worshipping that isn’t the one true God who has created you for a purpose? Whose plans are great for you? Who gives you bread everyday

Are you willing to step out and trust Him instead of the things of this world?

No one of this world died to cover your sins, why trust in anything else but Jesus who shed His blood to cover your sins? Trust Jesus.

Never Thirst Again

An ordinary day in an extraordinary way, Jesus and his disciples walk through a town in Samaria called Sychar, walking along the road He tells them to go ahead into town and get food for them. Jesus sat down at Jacob’s well for a drink

But it was more than a drink; there was a divine appointment at the well.

There He sat and a Samaritan woman came along to fetch water, Jesus asked her for a drink, she replied “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman, how can you ask me for a drink? John4: 9 (because Jews didn’t associate with Samaritans)

Jesus answered “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink you would have asked Him and He would have given you living water.” John 4:10

 How often is it that Jesus invites us to drink of His living water, to sit in His presence and know Him?

  • Do you seek this?

The woman was seeking for the Messiah to come and save them, but suddenly there He was asking her for a drink, offering her eternal life.

Would you recognize Jesus if He spoke to your heart?

She went for water, Jesus had something better for her, Jesus offers eternal life. Everything that is on earth is put here for you, for your pleasure as God gives it to us but life here is not lasting. Jesus offers us eternal life.

Jesus meets us in times of our lives that are unexpected, but just like the woman at the well in need of the living water, are you running after things that will satisfy you only temporarily or are you seeking Jesus?

Only Jesus can satisfy our thirst through the living water He provides.

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

John 4:13-14

        How Can You Measure God’s Love

1 John 4:7

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

 God has given us the capacity to love; we love our families, friends and some people we have come to know throughout our lives. When you are born of God (Born Again) we know in our hearts that Christ has given us the capacity to love one another as Christ loves us. We learn to overcome the selfish feelings of hurt that we know isn’t from God but from the one who is in the world (satan) and satan wants to separate us from people and will try in everyway possible to break up friendships, families and especially marriages that God has put together to glorify Him in this world.

Jonah 2:8

 “Those who cling to worthless idols
turn away from God’s love for them.

 But sadly, there are people that turn from God and go their own way for a while finding things to fill the love they really are looking for, things or people of this world but in reality the only One that loves you and can fill you in ways that satisfying for the soul is God and His love, it really cannot be measured because it’s so big it cannot be contained.

Ephesians 3:17-19 

so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

And we are chosen and set apart for Him to do good works in this world such as loving others as He loves us. So set aside the things that you desperately want to obtain and look deeply towards the One that has deep love and compassion for you. You have been chosen to walk with Him and do love others as He has called you to do, being called is a privilege not a burden, so walk with Him and love the ones that at times can be unlovable because we know Christ loves them too.

Colossians 3:12

 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

The Gospel of Accommodation

The Gospel of Accommodation

Just turn on your Sunday network or Christian TV channels and you will find an array of pastors, ministers and preachers giving you their take on what God has for you. It’s quite amazing that the gospel is a business that has given wealth to many a “preacher of the Word”. Or a self-proclaimed prophet that has heard God speaks to them to give you a “message”. Kind of like an in general message –but so can a psychic too.

“Buy my book and CD set” and you will unlock what God is saying in his scriptures.

How many times have you heard that?

Then you hear the person say, “With God there is Victory” over all your problems. Hmmmm, but where does it say you won’t go through trials and that you may not see victory. You will see defeat and maybe isolation, you may not hear God in those times either, there’s nothing in stone that says your life is going to be always victorious, in fact it’s gonna stink at times. It’s gonna be hard, sad, angry, disappointed! Jesus did not promise an easy life. He promised that He would be with us.

But the preachers have you coming back to them for that leaning that you will do, depending on what they say to make you feel good again, that’s the Gospel of Accommodation it’s luring you in for more, because it meets your needs.

WRONG!

Only Jesus can meet your needs, we look to Him only, focus on Him my friends!

I spent a lot of years reading and studying what “other” so called Christian teachers and theologians have to say when reading the Bible. It’s quite amazing the different interpretations that you can get. Some are convicting, some are life altering and some have the most amazing history knowledge to share, but some…. some are down right way off, putting yet again their spin on it.

So guard your mind.

Phillipians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

So while you are searching for something to make you feel good or make you smarter in the word than your Christian friends remember where you must go directly, that’s to Jesus in prayer and directly to the Bible as the Holy Spirit will guide your mind to God’s truth, where all will be revealed to you, as you need it.

Lastly I must say with all hope, let all you ingest into your mind be good and holy that’s where God’s word lives.

Not in people

Not in books

But always in God.

The Trials We Face

The Trials we Face

 Are you facing difficulty?

Does everything say “give up” and go on?

Do you feel people are in the way of your progress?

 You are facing the same trials many have faced throughout time. Some have been defeated in their strive to move forward, yet because you have faith in Christ you have an assurance that a defeat doesn’t mean an end it means you have been taught.

Many times King David faced enemies in every direction, it could have been defeat but David fled to God for refuge.

Psalm 57:1

Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me,
for in you I take refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
until the disaster has passed.

He saw men coming at him like “ravenous beasts”

Psalm 57:4

I am in the midst of lions;
 I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts—
men whose teeth are spears and arrows,
 whose tongues are sharp swords.

But David knew His God, he knew what His God can do and David knew how to praise God in a battle, not to give up or give in. He knew to continue moving forward not getting stuck in old details of worry and negativity but instead to

Glorify and Praise God.

Psalm 57:7

My heart, O God, is steadfast,
my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and make music.

So David stayed steadfast. What does God call you to do in a trial so overwhelming you want to run for the hills? Does He say be defeated?

Or does He say, “I am with you, you are not alone.”

Romans 8:31b

More Than Conquerors

If God is for us, who can be against us?

David was praising God in his trials knowing the God with him and that no matter what David had to face he knew his God can not be defeated, so in times of trouble, even if we lose, we will always win because God is with us through it all.

Do you doubt what God can do?

 John 20:19-20

Jesus Appears to His Disciples

19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

After Jesus rises from the dead He visits the disciples in the room they had been gathering. The amazing joy the disciples must have felt!

John 20:24

Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came.

 

But only 10 of the disciples were there, Judas was gone after betraying and hanging himself from a tree and then there was Thomas, not in the room but when he arrived later after Jesus had left the disciples, they told Thomas all about the Lord’s return. But Thomas didn’t believe it, he needed more proof, he said unless I see Jesus nails scars and wound on His side will I believe.

John 20:25

25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

 

There are probably many theologians that have their angle on this, but it’s simple. When you have put your trust and love into someone and they leave your doubt is raised if they will come back. But Jesus came back just to show Thomas that it’s true, Jesus loved Thomas so much He came and met his inner desire to physically see just what He knew Thomas needed.

Like Thomas we come to doubt what God can do or if He hears our prayer or call to him. But just like Thomas we need proof, we need to see that prayer is answered and often times it is, but sometimes not what we expect because God knows us intimately and just as He knows how we are wired we need to continue to place trust and hope in Him that He knows our hearts, needs and desires.

Truly it was a happy day for Thomas, but for us who believe without seeing is a privilege and blessing.

God can and will meet your needs but you must trust that He will and not be “A Doubting Thomas”.
