The Lasting Achievements Give You Hope

Are you spending time thinking about what you will be doing next and how to get there or have you longed for some idea of what you think you should be doing, maybe a long term goal?

Do you think about how much money you don’t have to get that thing that might be unimportant in say, 6 months or a year?

Have you ever thought about looking around at the things you do have and have gained in your immediate surrounding and considered all that you have achieved?

 Ecclesiastes 1:14

I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

Well, maybe you are someone that has achieved more than you have ever thought possible, giving so much time making things work in your life for those momentary high’s you have gained. But are they lasting?

What’s the point?

Mark 8:36

What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?

Maybe it’s time for a spiritual check.

 So here’s the question:

Do you feel empty soon after the dust settles?

A lot of things we do in life are motivated by gain so if we take a hard look at what it is that pushes you to the level of wanting more then you can see that these too are empty things.   But you see when you chase after these things they will bring no lasting joy or hope. Now this may seem rather daunting but the point is why live for things in this world that truly have no lasting value when there are eternal rewards with knowing and loving Christ.

All that you achieve here passes like the wind but when you are following Christ it is the eternal life you can have with him ‘No achievements necessary” just a love for Jesus and a willing heart to serve Him. Jesus doesn’t look at all the earthly things you have, he looks at your heart and a willingness to serve, that means extending your hand to someone in need or helping a person that is hurting or in heart trouble.

When we follow Christ it isn’t an easy road, it’s down right hard at times. We want what we want but ultimately what we want doesn’t last, there is no lasting power in the things of this world but only in the things of God, so when you are weighing in on the stuff you don’t have, turn and think about the stuff you are lacking inside, that’s a hope in Christ that will never stop you from wanting His eternal water of salvation.

Find peace in Him.

I really like this post Nancy,it is one that strikes a chord with me for sure.

I recently retired, and as we are prone to do I tried to do an assessment of what I had accomplished. Certainly, I did far better than I could have dreamed I would have, and that is only by the grace and goodness of God.

Yet in my spirit I remain unsatisfied. I do not want more stuff, what I desire now is to finish well. I pray that my latter years are the most productive for Him that I have ever had. In the end,I think that is what really matters.

Thank you for a wonderful post.

      Thanks for your comments!!
I recently watched Charles Swindall speaking about “Our Calling” something stood out, he said “your most productive years are in your 70’s and 80’s.-relating this to the story of how God used Moses starting at age 80. Loved it, so I thought of you immediately after you posted this, so you see, you have so much more to do for Him!
