Job 6:14 “Anyone who withholds kindness from a friend forsakes the fear of the Almighty.
In the book of Job, he shows his committment and love for God through his trials that God had allowed. But have you ever found yourself here in the scripture where Job is telling us if you aren’t being kind to a friend then you are forsaking the fear of God. Job’s friends were telling him that it was something he did wrong that God was punishing him for it, but that wasn’t the case at all. Job was in the midst of his trials as God was testing him and his friends as well. Were they turning their backs on Job?
Our friendships are very important to God, how we treat our friends is a lesson on how we are treated. If you are turning your back on someone who is genuinely kind to you, talking against them, ignoring them, not listening or compassionate then what do you think you will receive? God has made us in the image of Him and when you turn your back on others and treating them poorly you, in turn are doing this to God. That is where forgiveness is a big part of your behavior because kindness isn’t being reflected. You can’t go through life holding the hand of a friend who isn’t learning thier lessons, but you surely can be there as an anchor for them in times of troubles. They will never forget you for that, it’s that important.
So what if you are not able to forgive that person? They may have done something so bad that your heart has soured towards them, put them at the throne of God and realize who you are not forgiving because God wants us to be kind to all, forgiving and letting it go.That’s how you grow in God.
