Endurance for Christ

Endurance For Christ

Do you know what it means to have endurance for Christ? Well let’s start with knowing who you are in Christ. Are you following His ways? Are you walking the talk on your journey each day? Are you enduring the hardships of hearing the false accusations of your faith in the Holy One? So where do you fit in in this time on the earth of great persecution of Christianity? Hold steadfast to God.

Lets us define Endurance (Dictionary.com)

1. the fact or power of enduring or bearing pain, hardships, etc
2. the ability or strength to continue or last, esp. despite fatigue, stress, or other adverse conditions; stamina
3. lasting quality; duration
4. something endured, as a hardship; trial
When you read through the many letters of Paul he often talks about his endurance in the face of persecution, slander and unkind words spoken to him. Let’s look at 1 Corinthians 4 Paul’s letter to the Corinthian church.

1 Corinthians 4:10-13

New Living Translation (NLT) (Biblegateway.com)

10 Our dedication to Christ makes us look like fools, but you claim to be so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are so powerful! You are honored, but we are ridiculed.11 Even now we go hungry and thirsty, and we don’t have enough clothes to keep warm. We are often beaten and have no home. 12 We work wearily with our own hands to earn our living. We bless those who curse us. We are patient with those who abuse us. 13 We appeal gently when evil things are said about us. Yet we are treated like the world’s garbage, like everybody’s trash—right up to the present moment.

Paul’s word reflex his attitude toward others while he representing Christ on earth. How many times have you heard or seen someone turn themselves away from the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus? Their actions are not pure and when you are facing these things your faith has to endure the persecution and slander that you face. You have to overcome it. Jesus knows it is hard for you, but as Paul writes the letter he was faced with many trials and accusations that have thrown him into jail and beaten, but like Christ he endured it for the sake of Gods Kingdom.

So I say to you who may be struggling at times remember that just because we do not hear a voice telling us “good job there” from God that does not mean that He doesn’t know what you have accomplished for Him and through Him and His grace.
