Sacrifice

Luke 4

The Temptation of Jesus

1Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert, 2where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.

3The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”

4Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone.’[a]

Jesus was hungry and the devil tempted Him with bread and over abundance of bread. But He said no! He sacrificed Himself for the greater good of all. Do we give up what we love in the flesh? Ask God what it is He would like you to give up, maybe it’s something you thought you could not live without. When you finally give it up, it’s like you were tied to it, not free.
